LOCKER ROOM MONITOR REQUIREMENTS

All teams Squirt/10U level and higher are required to have Locker Room Monitors. The Locker Room Monitors will enforce the TYH Locker Room Policy.

In addition to the development of our hockey players and enjoyment of the sport of hockey, the safety and protection of our participants is central to TYH’s goals. TYH adheres to USA Hockey’s SafeSport Program as a means to help protect its participants from physical abuse, sexual abuse and other types of misconduct, including emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment and hazing. To help prevent abuse or misconduct from occurring in our locker rooms, TYH has adopted the following locker room policy. This policy is designed to maintain personal privacy as well as to reduce the risk of misconduct in locker rooms. At Pierce Park Pavilion there are a limited number of locker rooms available for our program’s use. Some teams in our program may also occasionally or regularly travel to play games at other arenas, and those locker rooms, rest rooms and shower facilities will vary from location to location. TYH team organizers will attempt to provide information on the locker room facilities in advance of games away from our home arena. At arenas for which you are unfamiliar, parents should plan to have extra time and some flexibility in making arrangements for their child to dress, undress and shower if desired.

Locker Room Monitors are required to register and obtain a USA Hockey Number, complete SafeSport training, have an approved background check, and need to register with TYH. All steps are detailed below.

You will need a current USA Hockey Number (renewed yearly). When registering be sure to choose Manager/Volunteer option when asked "What type of member are you registering." There is no cost for this.

You must complete SafeSport training every year. You will be redirected to your MyHockeyHQ Portal Login screen. If you do not yet have an account here please follow the directions for "First time members," read carefully. Once you are in your My Member HQ and on your Dashboard you will see SafeSport Training on the right half of the page.

You are required to have an approved background check, renewal happens every two years. There is a $30 cost associated with this step. You can submit the form below for reimbursement through the association.

The last step is to register as a SafeSport Certified Volunteer with the Thunderbird Youth Hockey Association.
